2002-2003 Dipartimento di viticoltura e frutticoltura, IASMA. Research collaborator. Thinning is an important practice in agriculture in Trentino region. Benzylaminopurine (BA) is an excellent thinning agent for apple, whose dose dependent efficacy varies with cultivar as well as other circumstances. Very little is known about its mode of action and efficacy in relation to bloom intensity. We carried out research trials on apple trees to focus the efficacy of BA used as a thinning agent and the interactions existing between BA and ethylene biosynthesis and perception.  We monitored the fruit drop, ethylene biosynthesis and expression, evaluated by RT-PCR, some of the genes involved in the biosynthesis and perception of the hormone following the treatment.

2004-2007 SafeCrop Centre, IASMA. Research collaborator. Innovative research oriented toward the technologies for reducing chemical inputs in agriculture and using low impact plant protection methods. The long-term objective of my activities is to reduce chemical fungicide input on crops. It intends to implement pathogen control methods based on the use of micro-organisms, their metabolites or analogous and/or their integration with other non chemical methods such as cultural. Fungicide resistance problems, concerns regarding pesticide residues and revocation of some widely used fungicides have increased research efforts for developing biocontrol agents (BCAs) of the grapevine pathogen powdery mildew. To reduce the use of pesticides, we evaluate some alternatives for controlling this pathogen. We study horticultural oils, salts, plant extracts and many potential BCAs such as mycophagus mites, insects, bacteria, epiphytic yeasts and filamentous fungi in powdery mildew control, especially in greenhouse production. Therefore, the objective of my activity is to evaluate the efficacy of microorganisms and some new compounds against grapevine powdery mildew under controlled greenhouse conditions, as a first step in the process of selecting new alternatives to chemical fungicides. Secondly, we monitor the natural presence of wild strain of the hyperparasite Ampelomyces quisqualis. in the vineyards and we isolate local strains for a potential development as biocontrol agents.

2008-2009 Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH),  Zurich. Phd student. Project: "AMPELO" Opening new frontiers in the plant protection by understanding the molecular language between plant patoghen and its mycoparasite. We molecular characterized the Ampelomyces spp. isolates coming from different host and geographic origin and evaluated their potential to control powdery mildew of cucumber and strawberry. The objective of my work was to identify highly aggressive Ampelomyces strains collected from different powdery mildew agents and to verify if the aggressiveness of these isolates is related to certain genotypes, geographical or host origin.
